Bebelplatz e.V. organizes international literature festivals and cultural dialogues. Founded in 2023, the association organizes, among other things, the Odessa International Literature Festival, worldwide readings and screenings, and, most recently, the Graal Müritz International Literature Festival and the Lisbon Literature Days. The aim is to discuss current political and cultural issues, commemorate historical events such as the book burning of 1933, and promote freedom of expression worldwide. Bebelplatz e.V. also coordinates the Word Alliance, a network of over 50 literature festivals.
Our first approach was to design a logo in the style of the existing logos of the other festivals! We also created a poster design that was a little more abstract and colorful. We used a picture of the festival venue as a model.
In the end, we based our design on a draft by Veruschka Götz and, in consultation with her, adapted her poster design for the social media presence of Bebelplatz.
